Literacy

We have just completed our Reading Program at Waterman "Reading Through the Roof".  Each student was asked to read ten extra minutes a night, until they reached 100 minutes.  Math was incorporated when students recorded their ten minute chunks on a ten frame.  The ten frame helped students to visualize how old Waterman Elementary is as we celebrate our school's 100th year!

Waterman students read a total of 15,100 minutes, or 251 hours.  We celebrated with a Dress as Your Favorite Book Character day.  So many of our favorite characters were here.  We had The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, Sal from Bluberries for Sal, the farmer and animals from Click! Clack! Moo!  Cows That Type, Fern and Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, Laura Ingalls, Junie B. Jones, The Three Little Pigs and the Big, Bad Wolf, Amelia Bedelia, and mana]y, many more.  We even had two special ballerinas from the newly created Wildcat Ballet perform for us on stage!!!

Here are some photos from our special celebration.
